Hillside Islamic Center (HIC)
Hillside Islamic Center began with New Hyde Park-area Muslims gathering for Jumu'ah, daily prayer, and children's religious classes before 2000. The community organized at Arshy Grocery's basement on Hillside Avenue, moved classes and Friday prayer to Elk's Lodge in 2002, purchased 300 Hillside Ave in 2003, and opened its newly completed building in 2017 just before Ramadan. Today HIC serves families across the Queens and Nassau County border with prayer, HIC Academy, Quran and hifz programs, social services, youth and sisters programming, and a growing masjid expansion effort.
