Masjid Al Wali
Masjid Al Wali is Edison's first masjid, a New Jersey nonprofit founded in 2011 for religious, educational, and community activities rooted in the Quran and Sunnah. The community signed the contract for 10 Olsen Ave on December 12, 2011, completed the purchase on March 29, 2012, broke ground on May 17, 2013, and opened on June 26, 2014 just in time for Ramadan. The 2.2-acre campus includes about 18,500 square feet, an approximately 8,500-square-foot prayer hall, and a two-story education/community building. Visitors will find daily prayers, Jumu'ah, Sunday and Saturday Islamic schools, Quran classes, Al-Wali Academy full-time school, summer camp, nikah, funeral services with on-site janazah preparation, MUHSEN silver-certified special-needs support, community center reservations, Al-Wali Shehzori House for Muslim women and children, educational loans, sports, karate and tae kwon do, Ramadan programming, zakat collection and distribution, interfaith work, health clinics, breakfast club, dinners, and social activities.
